What is Scholarly Communication?
The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) top line definition of scholarly communication is as follows:
“The system through which research and other scholarly writings are created, evaluated for quality, disseminated to the scholarly community, and preserved for future us.”
Full member and Working Group member of Small & Teaching-First Universities Working Group: COAPI was formed to share information and experiences and to illuminate opportunities for moving faculty-led open access forward at member institutions and advocating for open access nationally and internationally.

Institutional membership: DOAJ is a unique and extensive index of diverse open access journals from around the world, driven by a growing community, committed to ensuring quality content is freely available online for everyone.
Knowledge Unlatched and its platform Open Research Library, offer a single platform fordiscovery of peer-reviewed open access books. Its online marketplace provides libraries and institutions with a central place to support OA collections and models from leading publishing houses. Knowledge Unlatched is owned by Wiley as of 2021. Smith pledges support for journal, eBook, and video collections.
Institutional membership: OACIP aims to support and advance open-access publishing by providing funding to high-quality scholarly journals seeking financial support to transition to an open-access model.
Project MUSE Subscribe to Open (S2O) is an equitable open access model for scholarly journals that enables subscription journals to open access to their current content without Article Processing Charges (APCs). The Project MUSE S2O program is built around the current journal collections model, and will launch with the calendar year 2025 subscription term.
