Finding Books

Search Discover (above) with key words or titles to find books, articles, videos and more.

To find a book by specific subject or author, you may find it easier to use the Five College Catalog.  Try using Library of Congress subject headings, such as

  • African Americans, when referring to the group in the United States.
  • For a more global category, try Blacks --(country), i.e. Blacks -- Canada.
  • To describe a category of people, use African American as an adjective, i.e. African American Diaspora, African American Women.
  • You can also try Women, Black, and modify it with a location or a theme, such as  Women, Black -- Print Culture
