Use Wiedemann's Greek and Roman Slavery (reserve HT 863 .G73 1981b and online) for leads on specific primary texts:
- In the Five College Catalog, select advanced search and use the authors/titles Wiedemann identifies, for example:
- Author keywords = Gellius
- Title keywords = Attic Nights
The Loeb Classical Library is the standard collection of Greek and Roman texts. Smith has the titles in this collection both online and in paper copy.
- To find the online versions, connect here and search for your author and title
- For the printed versions, use a Keyword search in the Five College Catalog and search "Loeb" and your author & title, for example:
- Keyword = loeb and gellius and attic
- Smith has print sets of the Loeb Classical Library in three locations:
- Caverno Room (classics study, Level 3 core) - non-circulating
- Hillyer Art Library - reference collection - non-circulating
- Neilson stacks - these copies circulate
The Perseus Digital Library: Greek and Roman Materials is another option for primary texts. Note that it is stronger on Greek texts.
