This page will offer guidance on how to search for materials in our Special Collections using Discover Advanced.
Under the Discover Advanced tab, use the drop-down menu on the left to select Call Number in order to do a search for an item by its call number. Note: call numbers need to be exact when searching in terms of spaces and periods. You can place an asterisk (*) in a spot if you are unsure where a space or period goes. (e.g. to search for the call number N7433.4.K48 A4 2019, use N7433*4*K48A4*2019)
If you can't find the item you're looking for, trying searching in Smith's Finding Aids.
Once you hit submit on your search, you'll be taken to the main interface of Discover Advanced. Here, you'll have to use the code NU to search for a specific call number.
Searching by publisher can often be helpful when looking for specific books in the Smith College Rare Book and Manuscript Collection. You can do this by using the code PB before the publishing company's name:
By searching for publisher and limiting the location to Smith College Special Collections, you are able to see all items in the Rare Book Collection published by that company.
